Ricin Letters mailer caught: Let the feeding frenzy begin

So, as the investigation of the Boston bombings continues, two letters which may or may not contain Ricin, a deadly poison. were sent to Senator Tom Wicker and Pres Obama.

And the FBI has the culprit in custody. Already.  And he's apparently a Gun Loving, Bible believing, Liberty loving, corruption hating, Elvis impersonating activist.

.. from Mississippi!   AND a paranoid nutjob.

And here's just how hard it was for a small time LadyBlogger to track him down, which turned out;  NOT VERY!

Paul Kevin Curtis Arrested for Ricin Letters

Follow that blog for all sorts of links to the evidence.

The bottom line, of course is the Libs and Lefties have more grist for their anti-gun, anti Tea Party hate.
Because FINALLY a guy who probably actually was at a Tea Party event sometime, somewhere.
Nutjobs roam free.

Brushfires of the Insanities: Boston Trutherism Begins

In my earlier post, Patriot Day Juxtapositions, I recounted the efforts of various Lefty scribblers and public troughfeeders, such as Barney 'steaming pile' Frank, to politicize the carnage.
But quick as you can say 'Alex Jones' there's conspiracy theories aplenty.  We'll barely bother with  the possibly mental defective, Jones.
His site's version is so full of crap it should be obvious, from the beginning: "THERE WERE BOMB DOGS THERE, BEFORE... .  "

"The bomb at the Kennedy Library.."
- Uh, yes there were dogs -of course- and no it wasnt a bomb.
‘Suspicious’ fire at Kennedy Library remains under investigation
It MAY have been set as a diversion, but it was in a mechanical room, in an isolated part of the building.  If it was related and intentional then why not go all out and pull away more response teams?

The most pathetic and outrageous I've seen is an obscure lefty Aussie Film and Theatre critic.. you know those guys. His finger is REALLY on the pulse of reality..
"It's most likely the work of the NRA!!"  And if not them, then the notoriously vicious and radical Tea Party. Or the CIA. Or the Pentagon...
CERTAINLY it couldnt have anything to do with Al-Q.. it was too small and they didnt claim it.
- Never mind their magazine showed how to build this exact type of bomb.

Why the NRA? OBVIOUS.. the race was dedicated to Newtown victims.
And the guy doesnt just  post this once.. he has FOUR rants up on it, check his sidebar.

Read it for yourself, I'm pretty sure it's safe for your computer but I'm putting up an indirect link so there's no trail from my little rant blog to his whopping pile of horse shit.
Link through Google
Read the comments too... these people are INSANE!

Patriot Day Juxtapositions

There's lots of questions to be answered about the Boston bombings, including why and who..  smart not to jump to conclusions this early of course.  Though one thing that struck me is this is infrequent, but not for lack of bombers' intentions. A huge number of attempts have been foiled.

Obvious thing is it's a terrorist. No other possibility.
No need not to pontificate though..

Politico: How long until we know?

I want to know the cause -- not because I'm eager to politicize the tragedy, but because I want to know where our national conversation is headed. A great deal of political, financial and emotional capital depends on the answer to that question.

'Not because you're eager to politicize..' yeah, r-i-i-g-ht!  And when you see where the 'national conversation is headed', THEN what?

Then there's the Massatooshits Pol who needs a handler following him with a baggie inside out on his hand:
BARNEY FRANK: In this terrible situation, let's be very grateful we had a well-funded, functioning government. It is very fashionable in America, has been for some time, to criticize government, belittle public employees, talk about their pensions, talk about what people think is their assessment of health care. Here we saw government in two ways perform very well. First of all, the city government in charge moved efficiently and rapidly and bravely.
Excuse me?  So this shows we need more taxes?!!!!
In the video's what I see is everyone acting instinctively.. Many civilians did what should be done.  When the cops reacted in a split second to protect a down runner, that wasnt government, that was human!
Note: The anchor, MSNBC !!!, asked  Frank if he wasn't politicizing.  Of course the despicable pile of excrement denied it.. it's how he thinks.

The Sequester and the horror..
Steny Hoyer suggests that the attacks provides the latest proof that Congress needs to repeal the sequester. Has he thought this one through?
Salon: Let’s hope the Boston Marathon bomber is a white American

There is a double standard: White terrorists are dealt with as lone wolves, Islamists are existential threats

What bullshit!  McVey was not exactly a 'Lone Wolf'.  What he's really referring to is the Arizona and Colorado theater shootings.  Where, as you will recall, the immediate media reaction by the leftist press was to try to link the shooters to the Tea Party.  That's ON RECORD, not my 'opinion'
David Sirota.. a real 'Thinker'.
How many of the foiled terror attempts, since 9/11, were inspired by Al-Q sympathies?

What would he have to say about the Fort Hood shooter?  Is it true or not that the administration is treating him as a 'Lone Wolf?  When facts show he was induced by Islamic militant preaching?  He also didn't address the foiled attempts and who was behind them.. Sirota - idiot or Liar. Since he pretends to be a journo, tells me he's a liar.

Good thing there's no political angle, there.

On the other side. Peter King couldn't help himself, either:

Rep. Peter King: Bombings Signal ‘The New War With Al-Q

Well, it MAY.  As King says in the actual quotes. {Why I dont like NewsMax, they are as sensational as the lefties}

But we don't know yet, do we. The Al-Q 'cookbooks' for kitchen bombs are widely available on the net.

And Limbaugh has come perilously close to being over the top;  by saying if it turns out to be AlQ.  "The left will go into spin mode to minimize the dangers."

I agree with that, but there's plenty of time to make that point.. WHEN it happens.

Kids, Parents, 'The Village' and Guns

This is one of those 'blanket' posts where I try to tie things together as I see them.  There's LOTS of consternation on the 'Obsession with Guns' going around in the Media.. as well as that of what it takes to raise a kid.

When I was a kid, I loved shooting guns, especially .22's but I never cared much for hunting. My first game kill at about age ten, was a sitting rabbit at about six feet. I blew half of the bunny's head off. My dad chided me for that; I thought 'what;s the big deal.. it's for the table and less shot to pick out'.
The last incident was of a family hunting party at Thanksgiving in my early teens.  We were 'sweeping' a cornfield, A rabbit jumped up and I led him around, fired, and the shot kicked up dirt about ten feet in front of my uncle.  I immediately, and without comment from anyone, took myself and my shotgun back to the house and never hunted in a group again.  Now... even though I was young, I thought about those incidents a lot. And I came to wonder why I joined in hunting when I didn't even like the taste of game, either Pheasant or Rabbit.
But I kept shooting.  Using both rifle and pistol to kill rats around the farm.  I loved to shoot and frankly spilling a Norway Rat's guts or brains all over never bothered me one bit.  Bear in mind the context, folks. If you were raised on a farm, and yet it would bother you to do or see that, there is something wrong with you.  Or your parents.
Now you have my mindset; hunting wasn't for me but I never begrudged others based on my preferences and distastes.  I also understood the propaganda value of 'Bambi' and how it was misused by the 'Urban, Informed Elite' LONG before the deer population became a nuisance.
Fast forward to trying to raise my own kids.  Never a gun in the house. Why would there be.. lived in a nice secure whitebread suburb, with no rats of any consequence to shoot.. only squirrels and possums and that's not allowed in the village limits. And if I needed a gun for some reason, Dad lived only a couple blocks away.
Looking back, I consider that a parenting failure on my part.  Leading, perhaps, to one of my kids getting shot by air rifle making a dumb video and a pellet embedded perilously close to his eye.  If I had done my duty as a father of boys, I would have instructed all of them on the responsibilities surrounding using and playing with guns.

But to this day, I still don't have a gun of my own. I see no need for it as long as my neighbors and friends have the right to own and carry.  And as long as it is confidential as to who  actually HAS a firearm in their possession at any time.  There is strength and protection in that.
I posed a rhetorical question to a 'Progressive' former friend of mine some time ago: "If you knew there was a man or group going around your neighborhood and robbing /killing, would you try to do them harm to stop them?"

He replied that he would not, implying "Turn the other cheek".

Note that I said 'former friend'. He is at the most a liar, and at least selfish in his negligence in duty to his community.  But then he's a Progressive and lies with impunity; probably not even realizing it.  And whoever is preaching in his church that he claims to attend every Sunday does not understand the Bible.
So let's look at this and decide who is absurd and who is 'correct':

Note that Ventura was not prepared for the question regarding Western Europe or he COULD have pointed to the 'Lethal Weapon' Assault rate. Where there is not so large a difference.
I'm selfish, too. I don't care for doing my part to protect my friends and neighbors, so I still don't have a firearm handy.  But I will support the rights of others to do so and place my trust in them to manage them responsibly.. and without registering with the federal government.
Anti-Gun Conspiracy?  No!
There is no need for a 'conspiracy' when there is a well established narrative promoted by those who have never had to live in the 'Real World'.And you know what I'm talking about.
In the halls of academia, talking and verbalizing is the same as 'doing'.  And if the dialog becomes too contentious, then the majority of voices tries to still the lesser viewpoint.  Reason is based on 'the obvious' postulated by those who have been in the classroom all their lives.  Thus we have Freedom to Follow, instead of freedom of belief.

And of course, the least must be protected and managed by taking away the right of the majority, even if they have proven beyond doubt to be responsible.
It's time for us to give up on the 'reasoned' approach to dialog and start doing as Progressives do.. there are not TWO versions of the truth.  Twisted fact and narrative is an intentional lie, even if the speaker does not realize it.
Lies of the Progressive Hive-Mind:
Young Gun Expert Pictured in Rolling Stone: ‘Inaccurate, Biased Article’
Note that the evocative opinion-twister didn't even bother to find and ask the subject.

and..
the current storm over a mush head from MSNBC, parroting her academic based reasoning to advocate the community taking over the kids from the wrong-headed influence of their parents:

MSNBC Host Elaborates on Her Claim That Children Don't Belong to Their Parents

Her points are well-taken, and they are prima-facie correct.  What she doesn;t seem to understand is that we have learned to see beyond the 'facts' and look at the extrapolation of it.  We already consign our kids to the public education system where their young skulls full of mush are subjected to the whims and whimsies of those with no experience in real life business, economic, or survival situations.   And where the 'safety net' is so broad that the young are raised to believe that their success depends on 'Big Brother' in Washington, rather than their own ambitions and initiatives.

In that, we have all failed as a 'village'.

But I ask you to consider my opening story.  I was raised to be independent. When I saw that my hunting might put someone in danger, I made a decision. It wasn't made FOR me. When I elected not to be a gun-owner, it was my decision.  And, for the moment, it still is my decision.
Are you going to tell me that I am smarter than most people?
If so, pay attention to my other opinions!

Another Mass Attack by White Male gone berserk.. explained by a Beta male

Lone Star College stabbing: At least 14 wounded, suspect in custody

I'm gonna make some GIANT assumptions here:
Student was bullied verbally because he was fond of carrying around a stuffed animal. Because of that insensitive bullying he snapped, found a sharp object and struck back.
solution:
1. Arrest people for unkind/belittling/ personally offensive comments.
2. Arrest those who carry sharp objects
2 a {just because it's obvious} Arrest for Running with Scissors.

-- OR --

His parent(s) (I'm betting he was raised by a PC single mom) could have encouraged him not to take shit from people, even if it meant {gasp, shudder, OMG!!} last resort physical violence like popping someone in the mouth, even if he ended up getting his ass kicked.
Take it from me, I was skinny, wore glasses, got picked on some, and got my ass kicked several times. NEVER won it.
And by my junior year in HS, I got along with just about everyone just fine, and never fantasizing about killing anyone, ... anymore.  :)

Now.. IF you are wondering WHY these guys are seemingly ALL WHITE MALE... now you know.
Parents raising pussies!

And if you dont like my language.. tough!

'Beta Male', you ask... yep.. cause I never wanted to be a 'Leader of Anything'. Rather just give my opinion on 'how to'.

Twitterish Coffee Blogging the Feb 2 Today Show

IOW 'Info for the all of us!'

Lead story in the 8 am segment:
X-Gamer dies a week after a stunt fail he walked away from.
Today Show: "Are X-Games too dangerous?"

Yeah, I think they are because I'm CONCERNED.., you know. I'm all for the Congress passing laws on how far a trick can go.
I'm sure all the rest of us who are 'CONCERNED' agree.
Then:
Kate Upton on her sexy ad for Mercedes: "What's the big deal, I'm not even washing the car."
 Lol!
- Yeah, we guys know what she means... still...

 And:
Beckham signs with Paris team, donates whole salary to charity.
Good for him.. though at 75% tax rate, not too hard.  Big news missed: Beckhams move back to London. Not hard to figure that either. Maybe better schools, definitely better neighborhoods, without Hollywood celebs around.
Like: Laurie David blasts Taylor Swift Diet Coke Deal.
Yeah Laurie.. you arent quite so obviously stupid and shallow as Larry is, but still.. you really think any intelligent person is going to take your word for it? Oh, wait...never mind. That's right. You'd rather a LAW was made.
Breaking: The National Anthem is hard to sing and Alicia Keyes might mangle it.

Answer: Quit trying to stretch it. Unless you're Whitney Houston.. and you're not. And, by the way,Beyonce was was correct in lipsyncing it in that weather. Anyone with half a smart should know that.

Now I have ANOTHER reason to never watch any NBC news channel.. not that Fox & Friends is better. Dont watch that either.
Thus ends my commentary/rant on state of morning news shows.
Sorry.. I dont have and refuse to use - Twitter.

Fox News: Beavis hires Butthead

Employing the 'Hannity- Colmes'* effect in reverse, Fox hires Former Boy Mayor as Prime Time gadfly/punching bag/foil. Face it... it's not hard to look smarter than Dennis.
If what I say here offends anyone, I'm sorry. Read the whole article to understand what I'm talking about. Politics and Economics is more complicated than you'll see on any network. We're being dumbed down and I resent it.

Powerline: Is Fox Actually a Hedgehog?

"Kucinich is a clown, and he makes the O’Reilly Factor more of a clown show than it already is.
But maybe that’s the point; it is not for nothing that Rush Limbaugh, a serious man who nonetheless understands showmanship at the same time, refers to Bill O’Reilly as >Ted Baxter.<”

- Lol! Exactly! If you read O'Reilly's books, which are pretty damn good, you wonder if one or the other .. tv commentator, or author.. isnt just someone with the same name.

* Sean Hannity isnt really a shallow idiot, he just plays one on the air. Hannity hasn't been a serious show since Colmes left. And both their IQ's seemed to have plummeted on their own..

The War on Men And Boys Continues Apace..

Cant believe it took this long for one of my blogs to see this.. I got the joke but what I took from it is based on what I suspect from experience:
- This is the kind of guy who buys a VW, now that SAAB is out of business.

But no adult, let alone a guy, throws THAT badly.
Here's the blog which finally noticed:
Dr Helen: Can Dads do Anything Right?
Check the comments though. They are all over the place. Dumb Dads having been pervasive in TV for decades.
But it aint just 'white males'.. the current Dumbest Dad on TV is Tyler Perry's 'Curtis Payne'.  IMO Too dumb to be a fireman let alone be Captain.
Last time I brought that up some liberal white geezer called me a racist.
I told him to tell Perry if he could recognize him without a dress on.
Ooops.. now I'm un-PC on 2 counts.
Lol.

Lena Dunham is like 'a Liberal Sarah Palin'

No, Lena Dunham did not call Republicans Nazis, or “This Is Why We Lose.”

Just as Palin's views on just about everything met a landslide of stupid kneejerk reactions from the left, so is just about everything Dunham says, in the press.
The reason stems, of course, from the dumb pro-Obama video she made on 'Women's Issues.'

So instead of putting her in a box of people who dont think deeply enough along with Larry David, whose own pop culture / TV efforts actually make fun of his (and his friends')  intellect, we go all gonzo on someone new to the scene who is self-referential and realizes it.

Dunham, who is famously the daughter of a successful painter of “oversexualized pop art” and a well-known photographer who created “disquieting domestic tableaux” with dolls, repeatedly reiterated that her work is informed by a horrific childhood spent at expensive New York private schools and summer camps, where she struggled to maintain the integrity of her psyche amid the horrors of life as the kid of upper-middle-class urban artists. The whole thing is bizarre and self-fellating. But it’s also self-referential. The joke here isn’t that Donald Glover (who is adorable) is evil. But that Hannah, Dunham’s character, thinks he’s evil and has to handle the internal conflict.
 - read the whole thing!

Yeah... of course what was done was to put other libs' words in her mouth.  But that's about as fair as claiming Palin was the new David Duke.
Now.. I get the idea it's time we started punching back.
And I'm gonna do it, too.  But think before you let loose that hay-maker roundhouse, or you bloody your own nose.
This reminds me of why I never watch or listen to Hannity. His simpleminded diatribes convince no one who wouldn't be better served by actually READING conservative and libertarian blogs.  Hannity's stuff is 'Conservativism for Kindergartners' and he hasnt made a cogent argument for our side since I can remember.  Probably before Alan Colmes left the show.

UPDATE -from 'the future' Cancel everything I just wrote, because while I thought Dunham must be using some independent reasoning faculties, it's become apparent she has taken the easy road. Becoming the thoughtless shallow minded  Lib everyone thought she was.

Hit the Kochs where it hurts..Stop Biofuel Subsidies!

Western 'Green' energy policies still supported by many 'watermelons' as well as big brand oil, are contributing to starvation and environmental desecration in the Third World while fat cat friends of politicians get rich.

And the Koch Brothers have bought into it.

The Koch Brothers Are Right: Ethanol Subsidies Should Go

Only 10% of ethanol supply is sorta chump change, though.  I'd rather they bought up about 80% of distribution.  Then Progressives would have no choice but vote to de-subsidize.  Because Media Matters and Thinkprogress would be suitably outraged and force them to do it.

Then we could start on  corrupt European Biofuel policies that  are as bad or even worse.  Especially the German BioDiesel program which is the most egregious perpetrator.

NYT: As Biofuel Demand Grows, So Do Guatemala’s Hunger Pangs

I find it encouraging that lefty media is starting to see the writing on the wall.. and sky.. and floor.

Also interesting that the US is the only major economy to actually reduce its carbon footprint.  Because:Fracking

If we stopped ethanol in fuel, it would drop even more.  There's FACTS to prove it. At the least we know the CO2 output per car would not increase.

And then we could start on 'Wind'. Where it's proven that the carbon footprint is even larger than primary Natural Gas Power generation. Because it is necessary to have steady power supply and 'fill-in' turbine generators are much less efficient than closed cycle generation where emissions are much more tightly controlled, by about a factor of 10.

Current situation: Staffers talk about first meeting with Al Jazeera

This is a pretty big deal but it was soft-peddled on the MSM.  So Rupert's rag had to report on it.  But then, who else* will?

Ominously missing was the creator of Current, the self proclaimed inventor of the Internet and savior of clean energy, Al Gore, although his partner, Joel Hyatt, stood proudly with the Al Jazeera honchos.

....
“Of course Al didn’t show up,” said one high placed Current staffer. “He has no credibility.
“He’s supposed to be the face of clean energy and just sold [the channel] to very big oil, the emir of Qatar! Current never even took big oil advertising—and Al Gore, that bulls***ter sells to the emir?”
I'm pretty sure that guy already knew that 'no credibility' part.

It will be great to see the over/under on the editorial stance on US domestic energy.  Lefties and climate research trough feeders still claim that either or both Big Oil Companies or the Koch Bros are funding climate skeptics though they have to make up shit (as in the AEI debacle) to do it.  Amazingly they haven't found a tie between skeptics and Middle East oil.

Wonder why?  snicker.

I'm thinking enviro's opposing US pipelines, oil sands and fracking now have a, sorry... ANOTHER.. domestic voice.. which everyone will continue to ignore.

One person at the meeting, who has already announced that she’s leaving, former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, tried to ask about severance packages for those who wouldn’t be staying.“This isn’t the place to discuss this!” Hyatt barked at her.
“After that, everyone kept their questions pretty much to themselves,” according to the staff member.

Well, Guvner, .... and other staff about to be declared flotsam ...  you wont be happy with that bye-bye check, if you even get one.

"I'm pettyfog and you have my word on it."

*Of course, the Business Media had to report on the sale, itself.. with similar chuckles:

Note:  Since Gore dismissed Glenn Beck's bid with no serious consideration, it seems Carbon hypocrisy trumps Political hypocrisy.   Obviously Beck would never have given him $500 M

Going Gonzo over Guns

Hard to have Christian thoughts... when you read news items like this, like I found teased on yahoo
Trigger-happy Atlanta mom shoots intruder in the face 5 times

** Of course sanity prevailed but the original is cached and shows exactly what scumsucking liberals think about gun rights, and self protection.***
Trigger-happy Atlanta mom shoots intruder in the face 5 times
15 mins ago {when google cached from msnbc}

An Atlanta mom took matters into her own trigger-happy hands on Friday when confronting an intruder. The unidentified woman hid with her 9-year-old twins in a crawlspace as a man broke into her house and began rummaging through it. The alleged burglar, Paul Ali Slater, eventually found the family’s hiding space, but not before finding himself staring down the barrel of a .38 revolver. The woman fired six shots, five of which hit Slater in the face and neck, but he managed to flee after the family ran to a neighbor’s house. Slater is expected to survive. This story, shared thousands of times from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution website, has incited some pro-gun tweeps to voice their delight; @Jennecar writes of the story, “why we need guns in our homes!” And @kjclt1 writes, “bet this Atlanta area mother of 2 is glad she had her gun.”

Hard to believe any actual journalist could write that.. or that it could be published, even on the web
Viscerally, I could not help but want this  idiot to encounter exactly the same situation and die while on hold after dialing 911.
But that's not Christian.. just think it, then write it off as a human reaction and hope they just learn to think instead.
Thus I initially refer to the writer as a ***scumsucking liberal***.  Another visceral reaction, but small potatoes to the option of wishing him or her to die.  And obviously, not 'ALL' Liberals are 'Scumsuckers', just as there's a 'few Republicans who actually arent racist shills for the rich and privileged'.
When blood pressure returns to normal, I considered the article might actually have been written by a rogue journalist -- a closet 'Right Wing gun nut'-- to 'rile up the yokels'.
Which would have been just as bad.  But hardly likely.. consider:
- the 'Trigger-happy' mom 'confronted' the burglar: 'woman hid with her 9-year-old twins in a crawlspace'   ...  burglar, Paul Ali Slater, eventually found the family’s hiding space, but not before finding himself staring down the barrel of a .38 revolver. The woman fired six shots, five of which hit Slater in the face and neck,
She must have leapt out of the hidey-hole Gun-a-Blazin'!!!   ummm no.   AFTER he found them, he found himself staring down the barrel of the gun.
- Why was he tracking the occupants of the house down?  Sounds to me like he confronted the mom and kids.  Could be he was just curious about the hole and what might be in it.  Bad Idea if you're some place you shouldn't be.
- the presumably scared mom put five shots in his face.  I'm not a shooter, but I've shot handguns.  For a scared woman using a protection piece to hit the target five of six times  tells me the guy was within six feet of her.   Possibly she was just within the crawl space and he just looked into the opening when she fired.
But then... one of the 5 shots should have been fatal, or the guy is extremely lucky.  It was a .38.  I'm wondering what kind of powder loads were in the bullets. Guessing target rounds.
Whatever the case, the original wording of the article, as well as the reaction to it shows how divisive this issue is.
For me, not a gun owner, let alone a shooter.. it's an easy choice.  The more the liberal media writes on curbing gun possession, the more I'm for legal gun possession.  Not for me, necessarily; but for anyone responsible enough to go through the red tape bother for permits and training to use them.

About the "Bush started it' meme on Budget Deficits'

Saying the current debt and budget deficits were started by Bush is misleading at the least - and a gross lie at the worst case, which is the belief of most progressives.
Note the early Bush years were affected by the bursting of the Tech Bubble, losing a lot of revenue from capital gains, when investors wrote off losses.  And shortly thereafter by 9/11 which punched the economy in the gut for well over one month and some sectors took years to recover.

via Instapundit

Read the whole post, it's important!

Yeah.. there's a problem.  The financial collapse into recession isn't mentioned at all. And that was going to happen no matter who was in power.
The MAIN problem was TARP / Junk mortgage crash. Which is directly traceable to Clinton's CRA 99 and Barney Frank and Friends. And because many or most Republicans were complicit, you have to write off the initial crunch.
After TARP is when the party differentiation occurred,  once we panicked and threw a bunch of money at it, then instead of fixing the obvious problem by letting banks and finance crash, just threw more money at them. And hired whoever got fired, or lost a sweet gig at a defunct bank, into guv'mint slots.
And look at the mortgage market today!  Only difference is that it's harder than hell to get  that essentially 'free of interest' loan.

But the MAIN fix up to 2007 was jobs.. go back and look at 2001-2010 Unemployment Rates and overlay those revenue figures, above. Until TARP wrecked everything we were doing pretty well at recovering from the tech bubble and 9/11 ..

Figure courtesy Washington Post:

The key to revenue is and always has been a healthy private sector economy leading to growth and prosperity.
We are nowhere near solving the problem by adding taxes back on.. but the real start would be for the private sector to just have a good idea what their tax liabilities WILL be in a few years.
That's not likely.  And there's no indication, other than a few obligatory words, that the present administration cares about creating private sector jobs.

Tax Changes 'unexpectedly' hit home for Obama voter

via Instapundit..
From DemocraticUnderground:

What happened that my SS withholdings in my paycheck just went up.

My paycheck just went down by an amount that I don't feel comfortable with. I guarantee this decrease will hurt me more than the increase in income taxes will hurt those making over $400,000.

 LOL!!!! DU stands for DUmbass?

Best Answer in the Comments: 'Should never have been done in 1st place.'

Yep, SUCKER! Keynes brings pains!
And of course the DU..$$ doesnt consider that a Small Business Owner may have to declare $450K but may have an actual living income the same as his.. because ..like, you know.. he actually still has to write checks to operate his business from that declared income.
Here's more on the pain with no gain:

Workers making $30,000 will take a bigger hit on their pay than those earning $500,000 under new fiscal deal

Note: 'proportionally'..  so what!  But in the end, it shows that the higher earners DO pay their share.
Everyone gets hit.
The more you fiddle with taxes, the richer someone gets. And that someone is usually not the guy out there actually EARNING an income of $500,000.
However, the comments make me weep. Stupid people s
wallowing the class warfare narrative they desperately believe in.
As 'Shannon' replied on my FB page:

Bork's Law: Remembering a legal lightning rod

I don't remember Bork's hearings like I do those for Clarence Thomas, which turned out a travesty though Thomas did win the confirmation.

Kaus: They Borked a Guilty Man

However I do remember the vile charges leveled against him on the Senate floor, especially those by the hypocritical sleazeball Ted Kennedy, who took what I thought were reasonable and  conscientious doubts on Bork's positions and blew them into hyperbolic fear mongering.  Setting a pattern that the Democratic party follows to this day and establishing the partisan poison we now see from both sides.

And now.. without Bork... we have police breaking down citizen's doors in the dead of night and proposed censure of ideas by which politicians?

So Kennedy was successful in keeping someone who should not have been on the Court from being confirmed.  But I think, and many agree, we lost something in the process.

Note that Kaus above also blows up a hypocritical and hysterical damnation of Bork by another leftist.
Should he have been confirmed, no.. not because of those former views by themselves but that he was evidently pliant in applying them. We need to know who we are getting.
Note this tribute:

OLSON: Remembering a great American

Judge Bork’s arguments as solicitor general before the Supreme Court were models of brilliant, erudite, persuasive advocacy. His judicial opinions were insightful and perceptive. His commentaries on culture, society and morals were provocative and learned. His writing was elegant and eloquent, witty and memorable.
Judge Bork was politically attacked not because his qualifications fell short but because his viewpoints and scholarship were abhorrent to the left and precisely because he was such a brilliant, persuasive and effective advocate and such a towering intellect. His enemies could not stand to see him on the Supreme Court.

In there are exactly both sides of the story.  Bork was able to chain constitutional precepts in creative ways.  It's why he was viciously and unnecessarily made out to be the devil, and why he should not have been on the court.

Alinsky's 5th

Educated to a higher form of stupid...
"In the wake of the election, I’ve heard five Obama supporters — all of whom also voted for all the California Democrats and for all the California taxes — complain that their taxes are going up next year. The cognitive dissonance is almost painful. All of them consistently embrace big spending — and, therefore Obama and his fellow Democrats — because they’ve been trained to believe that the spending on welfare, entitlements, and “select” businesses is a “good thing.”

Too much education makes people economically dumb

"Screw you Losers! I'm going with the In Crowd"

Wanna switch teams and join the winners; want something more than Alinsky and Marcuse quotes?
Here's a full reading list of everything you need to fit right in at your Occupy Wall Street rally.  Or state union convention Meet 'n' Greet cocktail party, for that matter.

In no time at all you'll be spieling off the Narrative like a Masters Degree in Poli-Sci.

AoSHQ - Progressive Revolutionary Progress

After Tuesday's shocking and disappointing results, I decided I'd had enough. Enough of the crappy leadership, enough of the faux conservative, sub-optimal (heh) candidates, and above all, enough of the continual losing, where every defeat is costly and every victory inconsequential.  Away with all that!

I now say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. So I did. I'm now a out-and-proud (heh) member of the progressive left, and I fart in your general direction, you slack-jawed yokels.
So, what do I read now?......

Go ahead.. you aren't all that far behind those who've been indoctrinated for years because you already know the Rethuglican weak points, so it's like a running start.

Also handy for those who have the stomach to infiltrate and subvert from within.  After all.. they got Trump to do it and he's a political idiot.

Now though I thought about it, and lord knows at my age it's in my own self interest, but I'm old, got digestive problems and who knows how much my blood pressure could take.
So go on, leave me behind for the coyote and vultures. Never could handle listening to idiots' wisdom.

Why I despise Lib Media... essay on NYT, Useful Idiots and Olympia Snowe

In homage to Maine Senator Olympia Snowe retiring, NYT comes out with one of the most biased anti-common sense overviews of political 'civility' they've attempted yet.
- The blatherings of Paul Krugman and Frank Rich, possibly excepted.
Editorial

Desperate for Civility

You dont have to get past the very first of it to find fault:

Senator Olympia Snowe, for one, is ending her 34 years on Capitol Hill by becoming a board member of the National Institute for Civil Discourse, a nonpartisan advocacy group founded after the Arizona shooting last year that killed six people and gravely wounded Representative Gabrielle Giffords.
In case you don't already form an inference, the context of the entire article will be wrapped around the 'lack of cooperation' from Republicans and Conservatives.
And yet, almost ALL the slander and name-calling around the Giffords shooting came from the left and the leftist press.  Especially blaming Sarah Palin and the shadowy 'Tea Party'.
It turned out, of course, that the shooter had no political ties or agenda other than having formed a hatred of authority. He probably didn't even know anything about Palin or the Tea Party. In short, he was a nutjob.

Her {Snowe's} career goes back long before House Republicans disdained all attempts at bipartisanship as weakness, and before the Senate minority leader, Mitch McConnell, made the filibuster his cudgel and announced that his top priority was to make Barack Obama a one-term president.
And of course it goes back before the Democrats took over Congress  in 2006 and Pelosi bragged about 'hitting the ground running' yet did absolutely NOTHING in their first 120 days. To the NYT, that is not obstructionist, of course.

Nor do they mention that the Tea Party wasn't even around back then, or that the new minority of old GOP hacks was far more tractable than before the Tea Party sent the message. Evidence?  Try 'Gang of 14'; which included Snowe and Collins and esp McCain, Lindsay Graham.. and Mike Dewine.  Without benefit of Tea Party scheming or anti-Dewine campaign, we Ohio Republicans not-voted Dewine out. Sherrod Brown is the result, my miscalculation.. but I wanted to send a little message.  The Nuclear Option, when examined was an attempt to re-formulate a political principle on filibustered confirmation votes.. not bring the country down.
- If the idea sticks in your liberal craw, does the likelihood of GOP filibustering an Obama appointment bother you? What's the difference, other than who is in power?

Indeed you won't find ANY criticism of Harry Reid, who has made Obstruction an art form.
Speaking of Reid.. let's address the mention of Michell McConnell, above:
What does the writer call this?

Salt Lake City Tribune: Harry Reid says working with a President Romney is 'laughable'

Maybe the good lady Snowe should speak to him.

I didn't just start paying attention yesterday.. Maine has produced a remarkable Lady-Senator-Statesman but it certainly was not Olympia Snowe.

She {Margaret Chase Smith} said McCarthyism had "debased" the Senate to "the level of a forum of hate and character assassination."[3] She defended every American's "right to criticize...right to hold unpopular beliefs...right to protest; the right of independent thought."[21] While acknowledging her desire for Republicans' political success, she said, "I don't want to see the Republican Party ride to political victory on the four horseman of calumny -- fear, ignorance, bigotry, and smear."
I agree one hundred percent with Sen Smith's statements.  I reserve the right to voice my own beliefs. And I agree that the worst outcome of Senate hearings ever was the attempt to quiet and blacklist Communists in the US.
The result being what we see today... an agenda of authoritarian central planning and economic control concealed in the cloak of Progressivism and the Democratic Party.
Snowe's attempts at 'Civility' will be a one-way effort in outcome.  'Moderation' to Leftists means 'do it our way'.
Need proof?  Their spoken views on Romney before he ran for president vs after he was endorsed by Tea Party.

In Summary:
The tone of political discourse today is not all that much different than it has been in the past.   That doesn't mean we should put up with it.  But on the other hand, don't throw stones or let others do it and applaud, while your own followers and propagandists commit worse.
